TORQUAY, DEVON, UNITED KINGDOM, August 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Nobody gonna take my car, I'm gonna race it to the ground
And nobody gonna beat my car, it's gonna break the speed of sound
Ooh, it's a killing machine
It's got everything
Like a driving power, big fat tyres and everything
I love it, and I need it, I bleed it
Yeah, it's a wild hurricane
Alright, hold tight, I'm a highway star"
"Highway Star" by Deep Purple
Ian Gillan's eagerly awaited Talking Gib'rish Tour is not only about the rock legend recounting incredible tales from a lifetime spent in music. As everyone understands, rock 'n' roll takes many forms…and Ian's vibrant, eventful life has carried him far beyond the concert stage.
Here is today's obscure 'Va Va Vroom' fact…
Were you aware that Ian is a devoted motorcycle fan? His passion for two wheels was so intense that he once operated his very own motorcycle company.
In 1975, Ian founded Mantis Motorcycles, converting a lifelong hobby into a commercial venture. Looking back on those trailblazing days, Ian remembers:
"We'd work on machines until about 3 am, ending up with a couple of production Norton 750 Commandos and a bored-out 997… Mike (Egglington) built a special frame for that, made from Reynolds tubing, and welded it together in a criss-cross pattern that was state of the art. It was brilliant!"
Mantis Motorcycles opened showrooms in both Bristol and Edinburgh, representing what Ian calls a wonderful and unforgettable period in his life.
Naturally, motorcycles are merely one fascinating thread in an extraordinary career that spans more than 65 years. With his distinctive voice, Ian has motivated generations of fans across the globe. From his beginnings with The Javelins, through his iconic performance in Jesus Christ Superstar, and continuing with Deep Purple, Gillan, Garth Rockett and the Moonshiners, and Repo Depo, his musical path is deeply engraved in rock history.
Now, Talking Gib'rish provides something genuinely unique: a rare chance to hear those remarkable stories straight from Ian himself—witty, insightful, honest, and wonderfully unvarnished. The songs made him a legend, but the stories are poised to be just as unforgettable.
So thank you, Mr Gillan, for letting us all enjoy the colour, humour, and glorious gib'rish of an extraordinary life on the Talking Gib'rish Tour in Spring 2027.
We are revved up and ready in the saddle to hear every word!
The UK tour kicks off in April 2027 and carries on through May. Tickets are currently on sale and can be obtained from BookingsDirect.com and the venues. Details and additional announcements are accessible via the https://gillan.com/ website.
