Royal Oak-based firm lands at No. 67 out of 100 companies across the state, marking its 10th time being recognized on the list since 2016.

We work hard to build a fun, collaborative atmosphere where relationships and personalized service drive everything we do”— Kristopher Powell, CEO of HRPro/BeneProROYAL OAK, MI, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — HRPro/BenePro has earned a spot on Crain's Detroit Business' 2026 Best Places to Work in Michigan list, placing No. 67 among the 100 companies honored statewide. The list was unveiled by Crain's on Aug. 20, 2026, and the ranking is determined through research conducted by Best Companies Group, a workplace research firm based in Pennsylvania that administers the program annually.
Best Companies Group assesses each company using a two-step method: an employer questionnaire covering benefits, policies, and practices, along with a confidential 77-question survey where employees rate their own experiences. The firm gathered this year's employee feedback in June, then combined the data to establish the state's top 100 employers.
This achievement extends a long track record for HRPro/BenePro, which has now been featured on the Crain's Best Places to Work list in 10 out of the last 11 years, dating back to 2016.
“We aim to cultivate a fun, collaborative environment that places relationships and personalized service at the core of all our efforts,” stated Kristopher Powell, president and CEO of HRPro/BenePro.
“Our mission has consistently been to assist organizations in better caring for their people, and we are committed to practicing what we preach. This recognition reflects the culture we actively build for our clients and, equally important, for our own team. We don’t simply tell organizations that their people are vital; we work to show that every day within our own company.”
HRPro/BenePro, established in 1990 and based in Royal Oak, collaborate to deliver a Total People Solution. HRPro handles HR and Benefit Administration, while BenePro's consultants provide strategic healthcare cost management, enabling employers to control expenses through self-funded and level-funded plans, pharmacy optimization, and a buying coalition of 110 companies covering 13,000 employees. Together, they are known as the “People Pros.”
Within its own workforce, that philosophy is reflected in small, concrete ways. Employees receive an early Friday “closing for the day” announcement via the CEO's spontaneous emailed limericks. Wednesday’s “Magic Moment” shout-outs highlight colleagues’ everyday achievements. The company hosts employee appreciation parties, family picnics, and company outings. Employee milestones are recognized at 5, 10, and 15-plus years with the firm. A 401(k) match of up to 6%, HSA contributions, tuition reimbursement, and an employee assistance program round out the benefits, and most staff work a hybrid schedule built around one shared in-office day each week.
One employee summarized it simply in company feedback: "HRPro genuinely cares about its employees and puts real effort into fostering a fun, collaborative work environment. Employees are valued and treated as the company’s most important asset."
