Most haunted houses ask you to walk through the dark. Shine Auto Wash in Coquitlam wants you to drive through it.
Metro Vancouver’s Shine Auto Wash is transforming its Coquitlam wash tunnel into a drive-through Halloween attraction on October 23–24, complete with live actors, fog machines, animatronics, and a themed light show.

On Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 6 PM to 10 PM, Shine Auto Wash is converting the wash tunnel at its Coquitlam site into a haunted car wash experience. The location at Shine Auto Wash Coquitlam, 1111 Woolridge Street, will offer the spooky ride as part of a regular car wash purchase, with no extra admission fee for the haunted element. According to Shine, it is presently the only car wash in British Columbia offering this type of Halloween attraction.
Visitors remain inside their vehicles for the entire journey through the wash tunnel, where costumed performers roam, fog envelops the space, oversized animatronics loom, and a Halloween-themed light display amplifies the eerie atmosphere. The event is strictly drive-through, and both wash tunnels at the Coquitlam facility will be active and decorated for the occasion. While the car emerges clean, the same cannot be guaranteed for passengers’ nerves. Opting for The Works Wash means additional lights and extra soap, which translates into more potential jump scares along the way.
“I’ve wanted to try a haunted car wash for a long time, and this year we finally decided to make it happen. We’ve only had a short time to put this together, but the response already has us really excited. We want to give people in Coquitlam something fun and different to do for Halloween, and if the community enjoys it, I’d love to see this become an annual tradition that gets bigger and better every year,” said Billy Paskaruk, Car Wash Manager at Shine Auto Wash Coquitlam.
The concept of haunted car washes is not new elsewhere in North America. The Haunted Attraction Network noted on October 11, 2026, that 131 locations across 32 U.S. states were running haunted car washes this October, most charging between $20 and $30 US per vehicle. Calgary car washes have also been operating haunted tunnels since 2020. Now Shine is introducing the format to Metro Vancouver, with the Coquitlam location bundling the fright factor into a standard wash purchase.
Shine Auto Wash runs three locations across Metro Vancouver: 750 Terminal Avenue in Vancouver, 7500 Gilley Avenue in Burnaby, and 1111 Woolridge Street in Coquitlam. The haunted event is exclusive to the Coquitlam site. The company reports having washed more than 3 million vehicles to date, and if the two planned nights prove successful, it intends to bring the haunted car wash back for another season next year.
