Hitting 500 projects speaks to the level of quality we bring to every jobsite. We manage everything from the ground up, so our courts stand up for years in this environment. Performance is what truly counts.”— Jacob Cooper, co-founder of Premium Surface SolutionsPAYSON, UT, UNITED STATES, July 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Premium Surface Solutions, a court construction and surfacing firm headquartered in Payson, Utah, has surpassed 500 completed projects across six states in the western United States. The company constructs pickleball, tennis, basketball and padel courts, and also provides concrete work, specialty coatings, and landscaping for both residential and commercial clients throughout Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona and Nevada. Premium Surface Solutions holds membership in the American Sports Builders Association, the national industry organization that establishes construction guidelines for sports facilities, and the company maintains licensing, bonding and insurance coverage.
This achievement comes during the most intense period of sustained expansion ever recorded for the sport generating the bulk of demand. Data from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association's 2026 Topline Participation Report shows 24.3 million Americans played pickleball in 2025, representing a 22.8 percent jump from 2024 and a 171.8 percent surge over three years. For the fifth year in a row, the association classified pickleball as the fastest-growing sport nationwide. SFIA additionally began monitoring padel for the first time in 2026, reporting an estimated 1.07 million U.S. players in 2025.
Premium Surface Solutions splits the 500 completed projects across four service categories. Within court construction, the company handles site preparation, concrete work, surface installation, fencing, lighting, and equipment setup for pickleball, tennis, basketball and padel courts. The concrete division covers rebar and post-tension systems for slabs and foundations. The coatings division includes epoxy flooring, polished concrete, urethane cement, and resin systems for residential and commercial floors. The landscaping division encompasses hardscape, pavers, retaining walls and turf.
Premium Surface Solutions utilizes court surfacing systems from well-known manufacturers such as SportMaster, Laykold, Nova Sports and Acrytech coatings from AT Sports, which acts as the official pickleball court surface provider for the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball.
"Reaching 500 projects reflects the standard we hold on every job site," said Jacob Cooper, co-founder of Premium Surface Solutions. "We handle the entire process with our own crews, from the first cut of dirt to the final coat and net, because that is how a surface holds up to heavy use and the climate out here. The number matters less to us than the courts and concrete still performing years after we finish them."
In the Mountain West, court construction hinges on the concrete beneath the surface coloring. A regulation pickleball court requires a playing area measuring 20 feet by 44 feet within a minimum overall footprint of 30 feet by 60 feet, meaning even a backyard installation involves substantial excavation. Along the Wasatch Front, winter temperatures drop into single digits before climbing above freezing again, and this freeze-thaw cycle causes cracks in poorly engineered slabs within just a few years of use. Southern Utah and Arizona present different obstacles with expansive desert soils and 50-degree daily temperature fluctuations rather than northern Utah's frost conditions. Premium Surface Solutions builds on post-tensioned concrete, which keeps the slab under compression and resists the cracking that occurs with rebar-only pours, and tailors the subgrade engineering to each specific site rather than applying a uniform specification across the entire region.
Above the slab, Premium Surface Solutions installs CushionX, a cushioned overlay produced by AT Sports. According to the manufacturer, CushionX comes in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm thicknesses across three performance tiers covering residential, commercial and tournament applications, reduces joint and knee impact by up to 15 percent, includes a five-year product warranty, and can be installed as much as three times faster than traditional cushion systems.
Premium Surface Solutions provides an online court designer that lets property owners choose court type, colors and layout before submitting an estimate request. Completed work across all four service categories is displayed in the project galleries on the company website.
