WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, July 23, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Space Force Association has revealed the founding industry consortium backing its National Spacepower Center (NSpC) and the effective showing of the consortium’s first combined pilot demonstration to high-ranking U.S. Space Force officials.
On July 21, 2026, SFA and NSpC consortium participants Redwire, COMSPOC, Sedaro, OpenC3, and TigerVision presented a pilot demonstration to Chief of Space Operations Gen. B. Chance Saltzman and Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess, Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Operations. The event was held at Sedaro’s location in Arlington, Virginia.
The founding consortium combined its expertise and internal research and development funds to construct and integrate the pilot demonstration in under four months. Created in reaction to a task from Gen. Saltzman, the hypothetical Space Dogfighting scenario connected orbital data, physics-based simulation, command-and-control software, engineering models, and immersive visualization technology in a single setting to illustrate how intricate space activities can be converted into clear mission outcomes for senior officials and members of Congress.
“When we unveiled the National Spacepower Center in December, we pledged to build a real-world setting that would enable leaders to grasp the facts of space as a combat domain,” said Damon Feltman, President and CEO, Space Force Association. “In under four months, the consortium moved from an idea to a working prototype and showed it to senior Space Force leaders. That is exactly what the NSpC was created to do: unite government and industry to make spacepower more concrete and comprehensible for decision-makers.”
SFA revealed the launch of the National Spacepower Center at its Spacepower Conference in December 2025. The NSpC was founded to assist government, military, industry, and allied-country leaders in more fully comprehending the space realm, the character of space combat, and the operational truths that support U.S. national security.
The July 2026 pilot demonstration included:
-Commercial orbital data and maneuver analysis supplied by COMSPOC
-Physics-based simulation, scenario integration, analytics, and visualization provided by Sedaro
-Spacecraft engineering models delivered by Redwire
-OpenC3 COSMOS command-and-control software
-Immersive visualization technology offered by TigerVision
The pilot scenario portrayed a hypothetical adversarial spacecraft moving into near range of a U.S. missile-warning and missile-tracking asset. The situation illustrated how meddling with a space system could impact support for land-based military activities and how orbital geometry, timing, and resource limitations affect possible response options.
“The worth of this environment is not any single model, display, or company capability,” said Dillon Cox, Chair, National Spacepower Center. “It is the capacity to combine credible data, operational software, and physics-based simulation around one mission issue. That gives leaders a method to observe how a situation develops and examine the outcomes of various policy and resource choices.”
Gen. Saltzman and Lt. Gen. Schiess took part in the demonstration together with Laura Brent, Senior Advisor to the Chief of Space Operations, and Kathryn Kolbe, Assistant Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Installations and Logistics. The leaders offered in-depth input on how the NSpC setting could aid strategic education, acquisition and resourcing advocacy, mission analysis, experimentation, force development, and other uses.
The July demonstration was an initial trial rather than a final product. SFA and the consortium will utilize the senior leaders’ input to improve the setting, create additional scenarios, broaden industry involvement, and customize future demonstrations for different audiences and requirements.
The demonstration advances a challenge Gen. Saltzman has stressed during his time in office: assisting national leaders in more fully grasping the operational truths of space and the capabilities necessary to attain space superiority.
“The National Spacepower Center is built to evolve with the mission,” Feltman said. “Our next phase is to expand upon the initial demonstration, grow the consortium, and develop scenarios that tackle the most significant spacepower questions confronting the nation.”
