Jan Denies will examine Michelman’s partnership with HP Industrial Print and progress in digital printing and sustainable flexible packaging.

Digital printing continues to open new avenues for converters to produce more sustainable labels and packaging without sacrificing performance.”— Jan Denies

At LOUPE Americas 2026 (formerly Labelexpo), Michelman will showcase its newest water-based primers and barrier coatings, emphasizing its work with HP Industrial Print and its dedication to accelerating the industry’s shift toward more sustainable labels and packaging.

Visitors to Michelman’s booth in Hall D, Booth 3133 will find the full DigiPrime® lineup of print-receptive primers. DigiPrime® gives press operators proven solutions across a broad spectrum of applications on HP Indigo Digital Presses. The latest addition to this family is DigiPrime® Vision 9200, an in-line primer designed for high-performance labels on HP Indigo 6K+ and 8K Digital Presses. This flagship primer offers improved water and chemical resistance, along with major performance gains in media gamut and maintenance.

On Wednesday, September 16 at 2pm, Jan Denies, Global Account Manager for Digital Printing, will deliver a presentation titled “Unleashing the Full Potential of Digital Print” on LOUPE’s Spotlight Stage. This educational talk will delve into the forces driving greater sustainability in packaging and how aqueous coatings enable converters and brands to transition more packaging toward paper and mono-material film structures.

Denies will explain how close collaboration between Michelman and HP Industrial Print over the past twenty years has broadened the efficiency and versatility of digital printing across a wider array of substrates and applications. He will also offer a preview of Michelman’s ongoing work on digitally printed flexible packaging structures aimed at recyclability and compostability, with barrier performance appropriate for dry food uses.

At Michelman’s booth, attendees can see the latest prototypes of these and other groundbreaking structures and learn about two new bio-based, plastic-free barrier coatings created for retail food packaging: Nuvita® Life 4002 & 4605. Designed as a heat seal and topcoat respectively, these coatings help align with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs in the Americas, including California SB 54, as well as the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) and Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) in the EU.

“Digital printing continues to open new avenues for converters to produce more sustainable labels and packaging without sacrificing performance,” Denies remarked. “At LOUPE Americas, we’re looking forward to demonstrating how our ongoing collaboration with HP Industrial Print, our market-leading DigiPrime® primers, and our innovative Nuvita® Life barrier coatings can help customers expand into new applications with confidence.”

LOUPE Americas 2026 runs September 15–17 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago. Show participants are invited to attend Denies’ presentation on the Spotlight Stage on September 16 at 2pm, and to stop by Michelman in Hall D, Booth #3133.
