[They] understand that a roof means more to a family or a business than just shingles and flashing. That's the kind of thinking we need more of.”— David SimmonsALBUQUERQUE, NM, UNITED STATES, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — EverGuard Roofing, a leading New Mexico roofing contractor, has appointed Jose Velazquez and Isaiah Martinez as Vice Presidents, effective September 1, 2026.
"Jose knows roofing and assemblies as well as anybody on this team, and that's earned, not given. And Isaiah's got the kind of people skills you can't teach, he carries himself with a high degree of professionalism, he listens, and he understands that a roof means more to a family or a business than just shingles and flashing. That's the kind of thinking we need more of." – Owner Dave Simmons
Jose Velazquez:
Velazquez started his career with EverGuard in 2022, beginning on the field crew. He advanced to foreman and repair roles, then transitioned to estimator in 2023, and has now been elevated to Vice President.
Since moving to the estimating department, Velazquez has submitted proposals for more than 2,000 projects and contributed to securing $22 million in awarded commercial bids. Among these, he considers a $2.8 million public school roofing contract in San Jon among his most significant achievements.
"As Vice President, Velazquez will oversee commercial estimating operations and mentor the next generation of estimators and project leads, while strengthening EverGuard's relationships with commercial and municipal clients. "
"They have someone to rely on, someone to talk to and trust," Velazquez said of what he wants his team to know about him. "They can always come to me with concerns."
When asked about the company's success, Velazquez highlighted honesty, open dialogue, and treating staff like family. He aims to uphold these principles as the business expands. Regarding his promotion, he described it as an opportunity to share his knowledge, introduce fresh ideas, and keep learning from colleagues. He also expressed interest in helping EverGuard move into additional construction services in the future.
Isaiah Martinez:
Martinez joins EverGuard on September 1, 2026, with five years of roofing industry experience and a total of ten years in construction, starting in 2016. Most recently, he was Territory Manager for New Mexico and El Paso at GAF, a major roofing materials producer, where he boosted the company's shingle market share in the region from 6% to 15% over two and a half years.
"As Vice President, Martinez will focus on growing sales and building out the sales team."
Martinez noted that his early plans include collaborating with EverGuard's existing sales team to pinpoint growth opportunities and creating a database of the company's completed roofing projects to proactively contact past customers—whether for maintenance plans or because their roof is eight to ten years old.
On leadership, Martinez said he aims to listen more than he speaks. "I ask questions that hopefully lead to uncovering a need," he explained, adding that his goal is to ensure employees feel respected and supported while balancing what's best for the business.
Martinez pointed to EverGuard Gives and Dave Simmons' deep community involvement as two of the company's key strengths. He noted that the latter often gives EverGuard an advantage when bidding on projects, as competitors are not yet aware of opportunities.
This is Martinez's first Vice President role. "It's a big undertaking, and I don't want to mess it up," he said. Reflecting on his journey from an entry-level call center sales job in 2016 to a VP position a decade later, he stated that being in this role means a great deal. He hopes to find honest, hardworking individuals in Albuquerque who want to support their families, just as he would describe himself.
