Preservé alters how the surgeon creates the pocket that houses a breast implant. Conventional breast augmentation involves direct dissection to form a space either above or beneath the chest muscle. With the Preservé method, a specialized Channel Separator and an inflatable balloon are used to generate the pocket through controlled tissue expansion. The implant is then inserted via a smaller incision using a sterile sleeve.
This technique reduces internal cutting, keeps the pectoral muscle attached to the chest wall, and preserves more of the breast's natural tissue. It also maintains a greater portion of the breast's support structure, including Cooper's ligaments and the circummammary ligament. For appropriate candidates, these benefits may translate into less post-surgical pain, a reduced likelihood of nipple sensation loss, improved long-term breast support, and a quicker resumption of work and daily activities.

Avoiding chest-muscle release can lessen the pressure and muscle spasms often linked with submuscular breast augmentation. The technique may not be suitable for patients with significant sagging, very thin tissue, low nipple position, complex asymmetry, or large implant goals. Some patients may require a different implant plane or a breast lift. Preservé is a surgical technique, not a breast implant. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Motiva SmoothSilk Round and SmoothSilk Round Ergonomix silicone gel-filled breast implants for primary breast augmentation and revision augmentation in women aged 22 and older. FDA approval applies to those implants and does not constitute approval of every claim about the Preservé technique.
Breast implants are not lifetime devices. Risks may include capsular contracture, rupture, infection, bleeding, implant movement, rippling, asymmetry, scarring, pain, and changes in sensation.
