MedHaven Health reopens in Glen Burnie two months after Empire Towers evacuation

A sudden building evacuation can upend a medical practice overnight, but a Glen Burnie clinic has managed to rebound in under two months.

GLEN BURNE, MD, UNITED STATES, October 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The emergency shutdown of Empire Towers in July threw MedHaven Health into turmoil, yet the practice has now settled into a new home at 1600 Crain Highway South, Suite 201, Glen Burnie, MD 21061, where it has resumed full in-person operations.

The ordeal began on July 9, 2026, when structural worries tied to the building’s parking garage triggered an urgent evacuation, pushing MedHaven Health and neighboring businesses out of the premises. Suddenly cut off from its exam rooms, medical gear, and inventory, the clinic faced a steep climb to restore services while absorbing steep operational and financial strain.

Even as the disruption lingered, the practice held onto its patient base through limited telehealth offerings, all while scouting and outfitting a fresh location. By September 1, 2026, the doors were open again, marking a recovery that took less than two months from the initial crisis.

Standing up a new office proved far from simple. The team had to juggle the monetary costs of a fresh setup with the equally tricky work of preserving patient trust, keeping staff intact, and bringing back services that simply couldn’t be delivered from a distance.

“Our biggest concern throughout this experience has been our patients and making sure they continue receiving the care they need,” said Oluwakemi Balogun, CRNP, FNP-BC, Medical Director of MedHaven Health. “It has been a difficult journey, but we’re grateful to be open again and continue serving the community that has supported us.”

With the new suite now running smoothly, MedHaven Health is back to delivering primary care, women’s health services, preventive screenings, chronic disease management, mental health support, addiction treatment, vaccinations, and other standard medical offerings.

The clinic is taking on both returning and first-time patients from Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severn, Millersville, and neighboring areas. Coverage includes Medicare, Maryland Medicaid, and a range of commercial insurance plans, with same-day appointments potentially open depending on availability.

Why it matters: The swift reopening shows how a community clinic can pivot under sudden infrastructure failures, ensuring that essential care like chronic disease management and mental health support doesn’t lapse for vulnerable patients. It also highlights the broader risk that aging buildings pose to local healthcare access when emergencies force rapid relocations.
